Light. The thing that wakes me up at 12:35 in the afternoon. I smile because I realize…. Schools out, and Spring break has begun. I started the day with some Ben and Jerry’s ice cream and Transmetropolitan( a late 90’s early 2000’s comic about the future in a cyberpunk style) Then after just an hour of reading and eating silently I decide to get dress. I wobble back to my room and look at the tremendous but rather impressive mess of clothes everywhere. I pick up the shirt I was wearing yesterday and brand new clean jeans, some socks and my favorite boots along with my backpack and out the door I was. As I once again ride the streets of Little Havana as I’ve done, millions of times, I put the song “Misty Mountains Cold” from the Hobbit Soundtrack. Now I would be lying to you if I told you I remembered what happened after that, but it seems that my body is so used to the routine of longboarding from my house to Downtown Miami that when I finished listening to music I realized I was already there. Damn! I just had a “Limitless” moment. I should pay more attention. Well, who cares right? So I make my way through Downtown, which is eerily silent by the way, until I reach Miami Dade College.
I walk up the stairs to where the tables are at and the first thing I see are couple of Yu-Gi-Oh players I hang out with and used to play with (Yu-Gi-Oh is a children’s card game for adults….. that is mostly played by preteens and adults and that for everyone one kid that plays Yugioh, 30 adults play….. so you judge if it’s for “kids”.) but as soon as I turn to the left, I see an old friend of mine: Ajala. Ajala is an African-American dude with an afro with a semi deep voice and had graduated from Miami Arts Charter School (my high school) about 3 years ago and had been one of the few people who was a true friend to me. I hardly see him now though. He’s hardly on Facebook, so that’s a problem. Anywho I walk up to him and say “Hey! Dude!” “Duuuuuuuude!” He says, in a cool manner. “Wats up man? It’s been a while” “I know right?” I said “Don’t you work at Jimmy John’s now?” “Not anymore, the jacked my bike….. twice”. I looked at him like if he just told me that Michael Jackson had come back to life, had a concert here in Miami and I had missed it. I couldn’t believe it. I shouldn’t be surprised since IT IS Downtown and crime and injustice are rampant here, but I haven’t heard of JJ’s employees getting their bikes stolen…. Twice. I just told him “What the fuck? That fucking sucks.” Because I didn’t know what else to say. “Yeah dude, I had to quit because I was spending more money than I was spending” he kept saying. Oh aren’t we all, there’s hardly any money going around and for those people who are the lucky few to have work; don’t get paid enough. It’s a damn shame. I told Ajala it was terrific seeing him and that I was going to go to the other to play Yugioh so “I’ll catch you later bro.” He said “Alright man, see ya ‘round” and we high fived and made my way over to the table ahead. In that table was my friend and master troll Jeff. Jeff is a big Hispanic dude, with awesome hair and an abnormal but awesome sense of humor and kind of tan-wish, pale-ish skin. I’ve known him for 2 years now and he always looks out for me. When he saw me he said “Hey! Nathan! What are you doing here?” Naturally he thinks I should be in school but he doesn’t know my spring break started. “I’m just hanging around, no school. I’m actually working on my blog at this very moment.” He looks at me kind of confused. “Wait, right now, right now?” “Yeah, remember my style of journalism is gonzo,” I said “so basically I have to go and experience the world out there and just write about my life’s adventures.” “So I’m going to be in it?” he asked “Oh definitely, you don’t mind if I use your real name? “ I asked hoping that he’ll say no. “I don’t mind at all.” He answered to which I was glad but then he asked me “So what is your blog EXACTLY about? Like, what’s the point of you doing it?” I was taken aback. No one had actually asked me that before. “Well the blog is just to share my experiences of my life as I go through life, and to also show my journalist work.” “Right.” He said. “But what’s the point of you doing it? Are you getting paid, is it a school project? What do you gain by writing this? Why did you decide to do this?” “Well…” I said, “to be honest It’s mostly an experiment. I really love writing and this way I can show off my writing.” “To whom” he asked. “To anyone who reads it.” I said confidently “I just want get a reaction from the people who read my blog.” “Ah okay!” he said. “You know why I asked you those questions right?” I felt embarrassed, I think I did know. I haven’t been very clear on my objective for my blog. Nonetheless I answered with an “I don’t know” and Jeff said the following: “Well, when I was reading you’re blog, I really loved it but you didn’t specify why you did it, and I as writer though you should include that so anyone reading your blog knows why, they deserve to know.” Thank you Jeff, I’m sure my readers will appreciate that very much. After that we spend an hour playing Yugioh until our good friend Jesus came and sat at our table. I love this man because he has an epic beard, is my mentor when it comes to Yugioh and is basically is always wearing a beanie, unless its disgustingly hot. As he sat down we greeted him with “Hello’s” and “Watup bitch?!” from Jeff and I respectively. We kept playing until Jesus and we went to McDonald’s and I ate (except for me, I don’t eat fast foods, in fact I hate them). After a while I got hungry, so I headed out of the McDonald’s and into the metro mover that would take me near Bayside, so I could board to Whole Foods since my mom works there and she said I could pass by and get something to eat. I finally reached the Whole Foods and went to specialties, specifically the cheese section. (As you might’ve have guessed, my mom is a cheese expert) I saw my mom working and I said “hey!” and she turned around and said “Oh heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey!” obviously happy to see me and I was obviously embarrassed. I gave her a hug and told her I was hungry, so she asked me what I wanted, I responded with “Anything, I’m just hungry” to which she suggested “Why not pizza?” This is why this woman is my mom, she knows me like no other person. She bought me the whole pie from the pizza making station and got myself some coconut water, went to the cafeteria and devoured the delicious first slice as my mom played for everything. Afterwards my mom told me she had to go back to work because she was still on the clock. So we parted ways and I, who couldn’t finish his pizza, wrapped it up in my bookbag and headed home. Thus ended a most fantastic day.

As i get ready to embrace the day and hang out with my childhood friend, Alejandro, i realize its 11:30. I'm 2 hours late. I originally planned to set out at 9 but obviously that wasnt happening. I quickly got ready, put some jeans on and took my board and out the door i was. As i boarded down south in the streets of Little Havana, and like most of the time in South Florida it was as hot as Satan's left nutsack. Luckily i dint smell like that. I finally reached the incredibly dirty bus stop and luckily for me the bus was a block away. As I waited for the bus to make it's way here I cranked up my music.
Finally the bus was there and i took out my wallet, scanned my card, and sat down in the far left of the elderly seats in front of the bus. When the bus got to the next stop an elderly woman sat next to me, a little bit too close if you ask me but nonetheless i did not mind. The lady seemed to recognize another lady who was sitting in the row of seats right next to us, so i stopped my music so i could snoop. "Hey!" the first lady said in Spanish, "How are you? You just come from the hospital?" "No!" the second lady said also in Spanish, "I just came from Mall of the Americas because i had to do some shopp-!" At that moment the bus had finally reached Downtown Miami so i had to get off before the conversation was finished. I got off the bus and boarded to the next bus i had to wait for, which was literally less then a minute away. As i waited for bus number 3 to head my way to Biscayne I boarded the sidewalk until the very end. I was suffering from extreme boredom. Finally after twelve agonizing minutes of wait and nothingness, the bus finally appears from the corner of 1st and Flager. Strangely, the bus had no number on it. Instead the word "GARAGE" appeared on top of the bus. It stopped a little bit ahead of me and I approached it and the first thing the bus lady said was, ( well more like yelled )"NUMBAH 3!" However I wasnt offended, so I said "Perfect" and got in. "Not too busy today, huh?" I said. "Naw, too busay! So many people in Bayside! Dont even know whya!" She said. I was genuinely surprised. It's Sunday, there's hardly activity on the buses on Sundays. I finished scanning my card and just responded with a "Wow" and sat down in the same spot as the previous bus. The bus ride wasnt anything special in particular but as soon as the bus passed by Bayside I understood why it was so busy today in the buses. (btw as a side note because i dint mention it before, my second bus was absolutely empty.) There was protest going on in front of the Flame of Friendship. What a scoop! Unfortunately, I couldn't get off. I had already made plans. The protest seemed to be something about Brazil, since most of the protesters were wearing shirts with the Brazilian Flag. As the bus moved away from the scene i promised myself that next protest i saw, no matter what, i was going to cover it. In front of Alejandro's house, a beaten, fresh smelling, two story house in which his family live at the bottom I threw open the gate walk the stone steps and knock on his screen door. His mom greets me. She's a short, super nice with black hair in a ponytail around her mid 50's. At that moment she was on the phone but still said "Come in!" with a big smile so i entered the domain. I knew where his room was so i made my way through the smallest living room and into Alejandro's room. "oh hey man, wazup?" he said while holding his PS4 control on his rolling chair. "Hey dude! Watya doing?" I said, while putting my stuff down on his bed. He got up for no reason and said "im playing Heists man! (The latest installment of GTAV). "Oh yeah!" I said excitedly "It came out a couple days ago, no?" "I'ts zuper awesome man." He says, then he points the controller towards me. "Do you want to do the first Heist?" "HELL YAH!" I basically screamed while taking down the controller from him. "hehehe, alright calm down there buddy, dont scream. my moms in the other room." He stepped out of the room for a reason unknown to me so i just kept playing GTA. When he came back he said we could go to Subway later and "maybe watch some Youtube videos". After that we literally spent the whole day taking turns playing GTA, eating snickers bars, talking bout moving in together, making stupid jokes, and watching Youtube videos. It was a pretty relaxing day. I've know Alejandro since i was in 4th Grade and he's my best friend. I always love our hangs out even though we're fucking weird sometimes. All in all I wouldnt trade Alejandro for anything. Hello! Welcome to my very own blog! So this blog will mainly be about my life as i try my darnest to become a gonzo journalist and actor. I will post about anything and everything. Thank you for reading!
